Walk to School Day

Fall 2009 - October 14

All district schools, and perhaps private and charter schools, will participate in a fall Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 14, 2009.

Spring 2009 - May 13

Fall 2008 - October 8

International Walk to School Day is held every fall, the second Wednesday in October. On October 8, 2008, Al Seeliger Elementary and Mark Twain Elementary had very successful Walk to School days. At Seeliger, one-third of the student body walked, rode, and rolled to school, with scooters as always being the most popular form of human-powered transportation. At Mark Twain, students and their families were provided a continental breakfast by the school PTA. At both schools, students were giving incentives such as stickers, pencils, and "walking feet." In may cases, parents walked or rode with their children, making a healthy fun day for the whole family. The Nevada Appeal covered the Walk to School Day events in two wonderful articles, before and after the day.

The official International Walk to School Day is every October. Check the Walk to School website for more information.
